Here's Your Self-Care Check-In!

Here's Your Self-Care Check-In!

Valentine’s Day is a day that we use to celebrate love and affection. Whether you have someone special or not, why not use Valentine’s Day as a reminder to practice self-care? It comes in many different forms, but essentially, self-care just means taking care of your mental, physical, and emotional health.

BODY CHECK-IN

Whether you live in a place that snows or not, there are fewer options for exercise amidst a pandemic. Exercising in the morning boosts focus, improves your energy, and sets the tone for the rest of your day. Plus, there are less distractions! (bonus tip: turn on your favorite relaxing playlist or some white noise and grab your yoga mat to combine physical, mental, and emotional health) What you put in your body is important, too. Getting the right balance of daily nutrition – fruits, vegetables, proteins, carbs – helps make sure your body stays strong, fights infection, and combats fatigue on long winter days. Body - check!

SKIN CHECK-IN

Your skin is constantly changing, from the time you’re born, so it’s important to take care of it. Drinking at least 74 oz. of water a day not only helps keep your skin looking clear, but also can maintain your body’s natural balance and energizes your muscles. Establishing a skincare routine, even if it’s just a few simple steps, can go a long way towards boosting confidence and feeling good about yourself. We love using The Skinny’s Cleansing Balm to melt off foundation– with hints of lavender, chamomile, and sage, not only will it melt your makeup away, but it’ll take your stress away with it. Not wearing foundation? The Skinny’s Vanilla Sugar Scrub is made with coconut oil and acts as a natural exfoliant to help revitalize your skin. Add a toner or serum and then finish up with a moisturizer and a few swipes of The Skinny’s Lip Balm in Sweet Orange (our personal fav) to help get you through these dry winter months and you’re ready to go, whether you’re leaving the house or not! Skin - check!

MIND CHECK-IN

Getting enough sleep on a day-to-day basis increases mental and emotional resilience, helps your brain process information, and regulates your emotions. Use The Skinny Essential Oil Rollers, made with clean ingredients, right before bedtime to relax your mind and help ease you to sleep. Exercising your mind is also extremely beneficial in these cold winter months. Reading a book, learning a new word per day, or even learning a new language are all excellent ways to keep your mental acuity sharp and help you stay focused all day long. Meditation is another great way to improve your mental health. It’s great for increasing self-awareness (and self-love!) and reducing negative emotions, as well as increasing your creativity and patience. One of the best benefits of meditation is building your stress-managing tactics. The Skinny Candles are made with beeswax, coconut oil, and essential oils and are the perfect addition to set the tone for your meditation sesion. Mind - check!

HEART CHECK-IN

Staying in contact with loved ones is conducive to good mental health. Even if you can’t go see them in person, there are other ways to achieve open communication: Zoom, FaceTime, and phone calls can all help you stay connected to your loved ones (and to make sure they’re practicing self-care, too). Journaling is a great way to keep track of your heart, mood, and how you’re feeling. It’s been proven to reduce stress by giving you space to work on positive self-talk, identify stress triggers, and can even help improve your memory. Use it as a quick step to add to your daily routine and an easy way to check-in with your body, mind, and heart: Are you drinking enough water? Did you get enough sleep? How’s that skincare routine going? Check-in with yourself and love yourself. Heart - check!
